Prior to announcing and releasing Android 6.0.1, Google’s Hiroshi Lockheimer teased that the mobile operating system would support new eomjis. Then, when the software update arrived, owners of Nexus devices were able to enjoy the little icons right away. Everyone else would have to wait until their phone or tablet maker worked the new emojis into their implementation of Android 6.0.1; however, the roll out of that software update still hasn’t arrived for most. The only non-Nexus device off the top of my head running the latest version of Android with the new emojis is the HTC One A9. The wait is ongoing for many others.
But today we learned Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are going to ship with the new emojis right out of the box. This is because both devices are running Android 6.0.1 from the get-go.
