It’s about time for Motorola to refresh the Moto E lineup after being purchased by Lenovo, and if a new leak is accurate, it’s probably going to happen sooner rather than later. A benchmark for two devices, both with XT branding so we know it’s Moto and not Lenovo, suggest we’ll see some refreshed Moto E models with updated specs.
The XT1700 and XT1706 (last year’s Moto E was the XT1505, for reference) have both shown up in a benchmark with identical specs that seem to fall in line with what you’d want out of a Moto E successor. We have a 5-inch, 720p display, a quad-core MediaTek CPU with 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera, and Android 6.0 installed right out of the box. These are upgrades across the board for the popular Moto E, and would continue Motorola’s focus on the budget friendly area of the market.
Nothing official has come from Motorola or Lenovo, but it’s been around a year since we saw the last Moto E. Fingers crossed something happens soon.
