The wait is finally over! Samsung’s newest smartwatch, the Gear S2, now has iOS support.

We knew the update was coming! Up until this point, Samsung’s Tizen smartwatches have only operated with Android devices. Now, Apple users can purchase Samsung’s newest Gear S2 smartwatch and use nearly all of its functionality without having to purchase an Android smartphone.

Verizon is the first U.S. carrier onboard, fully supporting the Gear S2’s cross-platform support. In order to pair the Gear S2 with an iPhone, you’ll have to update the smartwatch to the latest version first. This should start rolling out today in waves. The updated version is R730VVRU1BPC1 for those on Verizon.  Apple devices running iOS version 8.4 and higher are supported.

The Gear S2 will give Apple users a low-cost option if they want to enter the smartwatch territory. The Gear S2 also has a different look on things, provides SIM support, and features a round display with an attractive design. These are some benefits that Apple Watch owners don’t get. This compatibility has not yet been announced for the Gear S2 Classic. You can buy the Gear S2 straight from Verizon for $350 retail and have the choice of either black or white.
