The newest update for Blackberry devices provides an “unmatched level of privacy” for BBM, also adding a Retract feature and Timer.
These most recent changes mean that BBM users on Android devices now have unlimited access to Retract, which removes sent messages from both the owner’s device and the person they sent it to. A similar feature, Timer, is also available for free without a BBM subscription.
Timer allows Blackberry owners to decide precisely how long their contacts can view certain material, whether that’s in the form of a written message, a picture, a video or location-based information. Both Timer and Retract give Blackberry users full control over the content they’re sending to friends.
Matthew Talbot, SVP, BBM at BlackBerry, said:
“Building on the renowned immediacy, reliability and security inherent to BBM, the new release provides unmatched level of privacy and control to BBM users without any subscription fee.”
“Keeping control over the messages and content that they share, BBM users can be ensured that what they share is always theirs to control.”
The changes don’t end there, either. Since the latest update, all users can now take a look at Private Chat and Edit, along with the ability to forward messages from one chat to another. General performance improvements are also said to be bundled into the package.
Android users have been treated to a number of exclusive updated features, such as the option to mute notifications for multi-person chats. Improved BBM Voice call quality should also take significant steps in improving the overall experience.
