GPS mobile app Waze has been updated with a new customizable speed limits feature that alerts drivers when they’re going too fast.
The latest build of the maps tool is the most intelligent yet, and the new speedometer is available in Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Czech Republic, El Salvador, France, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Netherlands, New Zealand, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland, Trinidad, Tobago and Uruguay.
Waze claims that the latest update to the app makes it easier to drive safe, notifying drivers when they’re breaking the speed limit on new and unfamiliar roads.
Heading over to the new settings page will allow users to adjust by how much they need to be speeding for the alert to pop up. It’s possible to toggle alerts to appear when speed exceeds the limit by 5%, 10% or 15%.
Waze’s new speed tools compliment an already solid list of features, which includes audio alerts for street names, hands-free voice control functionality and push notifications.
The Waze – GPS, Maps & Traffic app is free to download over on the Play Store, although as we mentioned the speedometer is only available in select regions.
