NCAA set to offer VR coverage for Final Four

MarchMadness

This weekend’s Final Four and National Championship games will be available to view through VR, provided users are equipped with Samsung’s Gear VR.

Live coverage of the match-ups will be available to view in virtual reality for the first time, accessible via the NCAA March Madness Live app which lives in the Oculus Store. Fans will be able to download the VR-compatible app for free.

Viewers with their VR headsets are able to see a live game presentation from a courtside perspective, along with a scoreboard that updates in real time with interesting stats on the games. Commentary is on offer courtesy of Jim Nantz, Grant Hill, Bill Raftery and Tracy Wolfson.

For folk without VR tech, March Madness Live’s hosts will offer a 2D, 180-degree desktop stream for the Final Four Semifinals and National Championship game. Fans unable to watch the events live can catch up thanks to 360-degree highlights set to be posted onto the NCAA March Madness Facebook page.

It’s always nice to see Virtual reality push entertainment to the next level. Basketball fans with their own Samsung Gear VR should certainly try out the NCAA March Madness Live app and experience the sport in a fresh, unique way.
