Google Play has updated its icons with a new, flatter design, doing away with the colored gradient effect of old in favor of a more vibrant style.
Announcing the design changes via an official blog post, new icon designs for Google Play, the Play Store, Play Movies & TV, Play Music, Play Games, Play Books and Play Newsstand have been shown.
Visual Design Lead of Google Play, Jonathan Chung, said:
“Since launching Google Play four years ago, we’ve always had dedicated apps in addition to the Google Play store. Today, all our icons are getting an update to provide a consistent look across the entire family of Play apps.”
The selection of new Google Play icons will be pushed across devices and online over the coming weeks, so prepare yourself for a cleaner-looking range of stock apps.
Towards the end of last year, Google unveiled one of its biggest logo redesigns ever, settling with a brand new title font and fresh identity branding. These new Google icons fit the same style nicely.
