Gionee announced the launch of two new smartphones in China today, the Gionee W909 and Gionee S8.
The W909 is a high-end flip device, featuring a 4.2-inch IPS 1280 x 720 display, a Helio P10 octa-core processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, and a microSD card. It’s also got a neat 16-megapixel rear camera, a 5MP front camera for selfies, and a 2,530mAh battery. The smartphone is running Android 5.1, and there’s no current word on when or if it’ll see Android 6.0.
As for the Gionee S8, it’s got a 5.5-inch Full HD 1920 x 1080 display, the aforementioned Helio P10 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage. Interestingly, the smartphone sports some 3D Touch features as well. Camera optics are similar to the W909, but is equipped with an 8-megapixel sensor on the front. It’s got a 3,000mAh battery, USB Type-C connectivity, 4G LTE, and Android 6.0.
There’s currently no word on any availability outside of China.
Those in China will be able to pick up the Gionee W909 for 3,999 Yuan and the S8 for 2,599 Yuan. The S8 is only available in a Gold color right now, but Silver and a Rose Gold option should be available at some point down the line.
We’re still eagerly waiting to hear information on when the S8 will make its way to India, but for now, this is exclusively a Chinese launch.
